Tom Leclerc

Soundscape Explorer, versatile artist, improviser, composer, engineer and artistic director of the Moss Explorers collective, Tom Leclerc explores new ways of doing, telling, distributing and producing. He seeks to include in his bubble what he surrounds from the public to the territory.

From his first experiments when he was a child on the family piano, Tom retains his desire for internal travel and exploration of his imagination and his emotions. Like the “soundscapes” described by Brian Eno, he wants to be part of these landscapes by going as close as possible to what inspires him, wide open spaces and nature. Influenced by the portability of minimalist modular systems, he took his synthesizers with him on these first expeditions, in energy autonomy. He then creates his improvised soundscapes in the countryside by mixing melodies, ambient recordings and sound design. His compositions transport audiences on a sensory journey, inviting them to explore new horizons and connect to their own imagination and feelings. Over the course of EPs and albums released on several European labels in the form of cassettes and records, he composes electronic pieces which form a sound microcosm. At the same time, as an engineer for the Moss Explorers collective, Tom also developed skills in the design of simple and portable music distribution systems. He creates autonomous, open and portable light installations that accompany his performances, adding an immersive visual dimension to his musical universe while reintroducing the consumption of live performance. Tom Leclerc is an artist who seeks to push the boundaries of artistic creation and its systemic issues. His work reflects his desire to create authentic and captivating musical experiences for his audience as close as possible to the environments and universes that inspire him, deep and wild nature.
