Deception Pass

"deception pass" is inspired by ybot’s time on Whidbey Island, northwest of Seattle, where the iconic beauty of the land is juxtaposed with the continued impact of settler colonialism. For this work, ybot focused on minimal composition techniques using samples, field recordings and modular soundscapes arranged in his favorite sampler, the Elektron Digitakt. Serving as both metaphor and landmark, deception pass explores self-discovery and navigating precipitous conditions.
