Desert Soundscapes II

Cecil Purihin is an experimental ambient musician and beatmaker from Las Vegas, NV who often creates looping, droning soundscapes informed by his life in the desert. His first Mystery Circles release 'Desert Soundscapes' captured the essence of his connection to the nature spots he spends time with throughout the Mojave. On his follow up 'Desert Soundscapes II', he delves more into the raw, surreal vibe of his hometown. Inspired by his graveyard shifts at various Las Vegas establishments, he crafts loops that speak to the city’s unique nocturnal energy, processed by the reflection of pre-dawn quiet.

Through his music, Cecil conjures the vibes of his own personal Las Vegas experience, a world experienced through the eyes and ears of someone who serves and observes the city’s eclectic and diverse crowd. Using layered vinyl loops and field recordings, he constructs sonic microworlds that combine the hazy, woozy vibes of late nights out and the ghostly stillness of early desert morning hours after. His slow, subtle evolving loops culminate in soundscapes that immerse listeners in a sort of liminal trance that is late-night Vegas. 'Desert Soundscapes II' takes Cecil’s ambient explorations a little deeper, sometimes a little darker - painting a unique portrait of the desert and city he calls home.
