Embers of Forgotten Dreams

Per Barfot’s third full-length album, 'Embers of Forgotten Dreams', grew out of improvised sketches originally shared on Instagram, distilling five years of an ongoing creative practice. The album moves through a tentative yet playful emotional landscape - at times optimistic, at others uncertain and full of doubt.

Created primarily with a modular synthesizer, the record features the Verbos Harmonic Oscillator and Mannequins Mangrove as its main voices, with the Rossum Panharmonium providing an atmospheric foundation beneath them. Portions of the album were also processed through a Nagra tape recorder, adding further texture and warmth.

At its core, 'Embers of Forgotten Dreams' is about life beginning to open up again. The songs were written during his recovery from severe burnout, following years in which his limited energy caused life to narrow in many ways. Dreams had to be set aside, but their embers remained alive. The album represents an emergence from that period: a return to possibility, energy, and the dreams that endured beneath the surface.
