“Inlets” is a near ten-minute composition built as a single arc, yet structured into three main sections—each acting as an access point into the piece’s evolving landscape. These “inlets” offer different ways of entering the flow, as textures shift and moods deepen. The sections fold into one another, resisting fixed divisions and forming a continuous, tidal movement.

The piece ends by subtly returning to its beginning, creating a loop-like structure that suggests endless return rather than finality. Time in Inlets feels circular, ambient, and spacious—less a path and more a terrain.

Adrian Johnson’s artwork visually echoes this form. Bold, overlapping shapes in vibrant color create a composition that feels both structured and fluid. No single focal point dominates; instead, the eye moves rhythmically between curved and angular forms, tracing a dynamic geometry that reflects the piece’s musical logic. Like the composition itself, the artwork invites entry from multiple directions—each perspective reshaping the whole.

At its core, “Inlets” is about permeability—how beginnings blur into middles, and endings gently open back toward the start. Time becomes less linear and more tidal, as if one could enter or exit the piece from any point and still arrive somewhere meaningful.
