Unlearning

"Unlearning drew inspiration from a poem I wrote in a dream during lockdown in 2020. I was quarantined alone in my tiny house cabin for four months with no physical human contact. Making this record gave me much needed purpose, structure and expression everyday. I had to use anything and everything I had in my house for sound design which was a challenge and also a joy. Pen to paper, silverware, microphone cases, salt shakers all made their way into the songs. The space I lived in will forever live in this record and I couldn't be happier about that. Since I had no access to other studios, I developed a whole new approach to engineering and mixing. I also made a point to not play any of the tracks until they were mastered, which i can say confidently makes this the most vulnerable work I have put out to date. I'm incredibly grateful to be releasing my debut LP. I hope you give it a listen in some headphones and enjoy some existential thoughts and musings from my dreams created in a time I will never forget." - AF
